This month's film as part of our Norwegian film series is: Louis and Luca Mission to the Moon.

Louis and Luca Mission to the Moon (Norwegian title: Månelyst i Flåklypa) is a charming 2018 stop-motion animated adventure directed by Rasmus A. Sivertsen. Set fifty years after the historic lunar landing, the story plunges the quirky village of Flåklypa into a high-stakes international space race. To ensure Norway claims its stake in outer space, the brilliant local eccentric inventor Reodor constructs a highly unconventional, homemade rocket ship. The bold, overconfident magpie Louis is quickly recruited as the brave astronaut to pilot the vessel, with his cautious, anxious best friend Luca the hedgehog watching closely from the ground.

What is meant to be a straightforward voyage rapidly descends into an ingenious and funny space odyssey when the rocket finally launches. Once in orbit, Louis discovers unexpected secret passengers hidden on board, exposing a web of hidden political agendas and personal schemes that threaten the entire mission. As mechanical failures compound and nothing goes according to plan, the brave duo must rely on their enduring friendship and resilience to overcome the challenges of outer space. Ultimately, the film weaves a heartwarming family tale that balances whimsical visual comedy for children with a subtle, ironic undercurrent of political satire tailored for adult audiences.

See you there!
