Film Club - Damage

Come along to our relaunched film club and watch foreign/classic/cult/interesting movies with a group of like-minded people!

This month's film is Damage, directed by Madeleine Blackwell.

DAMAGE

When war is dividing us and freedom of speech is selective, this gently mesmerising film is a balm. Ali, an unlicensed taxi driver and Esther, an elderly woman are adrift. Traversing a city neither of them recognise in an aimless taxi, their journey evokes a flicker of hope between disparate and hostile people and reminds us we are all in this together. 

DAMAGE is a timely film about the importance of human connection in a world of surveillance, militarisation and war. Warm, humane, even comic at times, DAMAGE features two newcomers to the screen. Ali Al Jenabi, an Iraqi asylum seeker and Imelda Bourke, undertaking her first major role at the age of 89. Written and directed by Madeleine Blackwell, it was produced in Adelaide South Australia and is currently streaming in the UK and USA. The Film has had a limited release nationally and has had international festival exposure.
