Photos with Santa - Saturday
This fun event is for anyone who would like their child/children/family to have a photo with Santa. Following the popularity of the event, we have booked Santa in again this year.
We will provide Santa, a festive backdrop, lighting and a photographer. The display photo on this listing shows the kind of set-up that you can expect.
You can just have your child with Santa or other family members too. Or if your child is nervous of Santa, you can just have a family photo instead :)
Please turn up promptly for your session as sessions are only 5 minutes long.
You will be provided with a link to 5 or 6 of the best shots taken on the day – we plan to get these to you within a couple of business days following the shoot. These digital shots may then be used at various printing outlets such as Officeworks, Harvey Norman or similar to purchase merchandise personalised with your photos.
It is essential that you include your email address on your registration to allow us to get your shots to you.
Time slots cost $20 for non-members and $16 (20% discount) for members – we are able to offer it at this rate due to the generosity of our volunteers.
To sit or not to sit – that is the question?
Over the years, we have considered the question of whether it is OK or not for children to sit on Santa's knee from a child protection point of view. Our Santa has a Working With Children Check and is happy to hold babies or have small children sit on his knee if that is what the child wants. The key thing is about consent – we feel this is a great opportunity to teach children gentle lessons about body safety and consent. So, if the child is comfortable, and you are comfortable with the situation, then they can sit in Santa’s lap (small children only please), but if not, they can stand or sit alongside Santa and still have a great photo. The last thing we want is for children or Santa to be uncomfortable in the situation, so having a chat/talk with your child (if they are old enough) prior to the shoot is a great idea, and being sensitive to what your child wants on the day is also vital.
This article is an interesting read and provides some great tips on how to talk to your child about choice around physical affection/greetings.
